Faith Promise Projects
What is a Faith Promise? "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (i Peter 4:10). As a faithful steward of God's infinite grace, I want to grow in my faithfulness to God and in my giving to God's church and the world. As you give to the church and to its mission and ministry in the name of Jesus Christ, celebrate that you are growing as a steward, as a person make in the image of a giving God.

Funding and Faith Promises
How is the Missions Program at OLCC funded?
Regular Budget 12% of the annual church budget is set aside for outreach, mission, and seminary students. These funds are used for annual support of ministries and missionaries, seminary scholarships, administrative costs, & special events including the annual mission conference. Our Lord's currently supports 25 ministries & missionaries through quarterly contributions locally, nationally, & internationally.
Special Projects & Other Funds
In addition to the regular budget, members are asked to consider making a "faith promise" above & beyond their regular tithe during the Mission Conference. These gifts are used to support special one time projects selected by the Mission Ministry Team. To contribute to these projects note Missions on the memo line of your check to the church. The Faith Promise runs from March 2009-February 2010. Individuals who choose may also make donations to the ministries World Designated Funds or Short Term Mission Fund. These funds are not part of the regular budget & availability of funds varies as donations are given & funds distributed. World Designated Funds are used for different projects and needs which occur throughout the year and are not planned for in either the budget or Special Projects. The Mission Ministry Team uses Short Term Funds to assist members who are called to Short Term Mission.
Why do we support "extra projects"?
Because the need is so great. Our Lord's supports and prays for over 30 ministries but the amount to each one does not completely cover their needs. The Missions Ministry Team carefully prays over and researches the many requests for funds and presents them to the congregation during our Celebration. These are projects which could not be done with only regular giving.
What is a "Faith Promise"?
A "Faith Promise" is a promise made to God that you will give a certain amount to world missions based not on what you have but on what God will provide. Sound strange?
• It is Biblical. The Scriptures teach us to give a tithe as good stewards but also encourages us to trust God to supply all our needs and more (II Cor. 9:8).
• It helps people grow in faith. The Scriptures challenge us to trust the Lord to make our little into a lot that will feed many. When that happens our faith grows.
Practically, how does it work?
Ask God for a specific amount He would like for you to give. Write the amount down on the promise cards available. This is only for your information. When you receive an unexpected gift, a refund, a tax return or a garage sale that goes well, use some of that profit for your Faith Promise. See what God will do.
